Nu-Flame fire protection systems for timber include clear varnishes, fire-retardant impregnations and coloured finishes for internal and external use.
Clear intumescent timber varnish and overcoat
Nu-Flame Intumescent Varnish
Nu-Flame Intumescent Varnish is a clear flame-retardant intumescent paint coating for timber and timber derivative surfaces giving a varnish type appearance, which enhances the natural colour of wood. Can be used internally and externally.
It is intended to upgrade timber to Class 1 and Class 0 surface spread of flame in accordance with BS476 Parts 6 and Parts 7.
Nu-Flame Clear Overcoat
Nu-Flame Clear Overcoat is a flameproof paint available in matt, satin or gloss finish. These clear topcoats are applied over Nu-Flame Intumescent Varnish to achieve the preferred finish.
The clear intumescent paint system can be applied on top of previously varnished timber, although a test area should always be carried out prior to full application for adhesion purposes.
Clear fire-retardant timber impregnation
Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation
Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation is a water-based ready-to-use fire-retardant solution that is absorbed into the surface of the substrate to achieve Class 0 Surface Spread of Flame.
For internal and external use
Does not leach
Colourless and odourless
Non-toxic
Solvent free
Will not wash out from the substrate once dry
Not harmful to the environment
Timber treated with Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation Fire Retardant does not react with galvanised steel, gun nails or zinc-coated screws. Critical engineering properties, ie strength, durability, hygroscopicity and corrosivity, are not compromised.
A variety of stains and varnishes can be applied after the application of the Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation.
Coloured intumescent timber paint systems
Nu-Flame Timbercoat
Nu-Flame Timbercoat is a pigmented intumescent paint applied to bare or previously painted timber. It can be used internally and externally where a suitable flame-retardant topcoat is applied over the top for protection.
For internal use, any of the flameproof paints can be applied.
For external use, Nu-Flame FR Gloss or Nu-Flame FR Colourcoat External can be applied to give added protection.
Nu-Flame Timbercoat is tested to achieve a surface spread of flame or fire protection need to Class ‘1’ and Class ‘0’.
