Newton Waterproofing Systems has seen great success with our comprehensive training schemes offered to our Specialist Basement Contractors. As such, we are proud and excited to be working alongside the Property Care Association (PCA) to deliver training for the highly desirable CSSW qualification at our head office in Tonbridge, Kent.
Nationally recognised, the Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing qualification is specific to those individuals who are involved in diagnosing and designing solutions for problems with water entering below ground structures.
Developed by the PCA, the CSSW qualification is only suitable for professionals who have experience within the construction and waterproofing industry with prior knowledge of below ground waterproofing. By undertaking the training scheme, candidates will be competent at designing a structural waterproofing scheme, as required by BS 8102:2009.
For our first CSSW course, Newton were proud to work in partnership with the Australian Institute of Waterproofing (AIW) and our Australian distributors, Bayset. In the last week of August, we hosted six industry professionals from Australia, along with another six professionals from the UK, including two Newton employees for an intensive five-day course.
"It was the best organised and ran training course that I have ever been on. The tutors and course documentation were excellent. The venue, facilities and food were top class."
Our in-house experts tutored the candidates over the five-day course on the key principals of structural waterproofing, covering Type A, B and C systems in-line with BS 8102:2009, waterproofing designs and origins of water ingress. To qualify as a CSSW, candidates must successfully pass a 2.5 hour written paper and a 20-minute oral exam on the content of the training course and an additional 2 hour Legal and Health & Safety written paper.
Successful candidates will be awarded the 'ABBE/PCA Level 3 Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing' through the Awarding Body for Building Education (ABBE) and will be able to add the post-nominal letters 'CSSW' to their name.
"The Newton team were very inviting, professional, friendly and willing to assist throughout the entire time the AIW team stayed in the UK and undertook the CSSW training. Newton's facility is very well equipped and setup well for trianing. I'd like to thank the entire team at Newton Waterproofing for their assistance, the people at the PCA and all the trainers involved throughout the entire process."
Further to this new venture, Newton Waterproofing Systems will also be collaborating with the PCA to provide on-the-job training for students on the CITB Structural Waterproofing Apprenticeship, giving apprentices hands-on training experience in the sector.
