Activity is a permanently installed sprung floor system with a triple sandwich composite construction. Activity completely eliminates the need for metal springs and rubber pads. Because it is a fully floating system with no fixings to the floor, it can be laid on almost any surface without preparation. It is shock-damped to avoid excessive rebound (known as trampoline effect), and combines area and point elasticity to offer identical characteristics across the whole floor. Activity is ideal for ballet, reducing injury risk and enhancing dancers performances.

Key features:

  • A fully floating construction of semi-flexible panels supported on a cellular layer and covered with a Harlequin dance surface.
  • Area elasticity provides give or flexion across the section where a performer lands.
  • Point elasticity offers compression at the point of contact.
  • Limitation of flexing to avoid disturbing neighbouring performers.
  • Uniform suspension across the whole floor eliminates the hard spots associated with traditional wood floors.
  • Remarkably quiet in use due to high-tech composite construction.
  • Low maintenance costs.

Activity is available for permanent installation by Harlequin Contracts Division only and is the ideal floor for dance studios and rehearsal rooms. Harlequin Activity Floor has been tested to DIN 18032-2 and passed in all four categories relevant to dance floors.

Harlequin Activity is generally installed with a Harlequin vinyl surface. However, the second layer of semi-flexible panels can be replaced with a selected hardwood surface layer, normally an engineered board with a choice of hardwood wear layer. By quotation, this can be substituted with a solid hardwood layer.
