TORMAX UK, working with Precision Glass Ltd, supplied and commissioned door automation for the new visitor reception and retail space at West Dean, near Chichester. The project involved automating two 2.5m-high glazed sliding door entrances, connecting the reception and shop area with the gardens.

The Solution

Two TORMAX iMotion 2202 sliding door operators were installed, selected for their ability to handle large, heavy glazed door leaves. The direct-drive design reduces wear and lowers maintenance requirements over time.

Opening and closing speeds, along with hold-open times, can be adjusted according to weather conditions and foot traffic, helping to reduce energy consumption and heat loss, supporting West Dean's environmental approach to estate management.

Design and Collaboration

Precision Glass Ltd worked with the project architect to design entrances that balance appearance, usability and long-term performance, aiming for the widest practical clear opening while maintaining safe operation. The resulting glazed entrances reflect Precision Glass Ltd’s expertise in delivering carefully coordinated solutions where glass quality and precision detailing are key

The TORMAX automation was selected to integrate with this design while providing accessible entry for all visitors.
