Context
Hounslow Council's Meadowbank Community Hub and Library needed to be transformed into a modern, multi-use building incorporating adult education spaces, library services, and community support functions.
Central to the project was the need for an entrance solution capable of managing continuous pedestrian flow while maintaining effective environmental separation between interior and exterior zones.
TORMAX was appointed to design, manufacture, and install a fully integrated automatic entrance system, working in close collaboration with main contractor Borras Construction throughout the process.
Solution
TORMAX engineered a two-stage lobby entrance arrangement to meet the operational and environmental demands of the building.
The outer entrance comprises two automatic swing doors that open outwards, welcoming visitors into a sheltered lobby. This configuration provides weather protection and minimises heat loss. A large single sliding door then provides access from the lobby into the main reception area.
Both door sets are powered by TORMAX's proprietary iMotion operators: the outer swing doors by the iMotion 1301, and the inner sliding door by the iMotion 2202.
Technology
The iMotion range combines intelligent microprocessor control with self-learning functionality and gearless synchronous motor technology. This delivers ultra-smooth, low-noise operation alongside exceptional reliability and virtually maintenance-free performance.
The entire entrance solution has been engineered to comply with modern access standards, incorporating industry-leading safety functionality throughout.
