The pre-patinated zinc surface prePATINA blue-grey is unique and specially developed by RHEINZINK. The transformation from a glossy surface to a more matte blue-grey surface is part of the production process, but it is not an added layer of varnish, lacquer paint or anything else.

The surface is still 100% natural and the material properties are still intact. During the pre-patination process, a protective patina is formed, which will patinate further when installed and exposed to wind and weather.

In our pre-patination process, the surface of the natural, bright-rolled zinc is 'pickled' from giant coils (rollers), after which it is cleaned and rinsed. Whether the pre-patinated surface becomes blue-grey or graphite-grey depends on the original alloy. For example, for graphite-grey, the copper content is higher.

The whole procedure takes place in a closed, continuous process that meets the highest environmental requirements.
