DeltaBox/SS-90 stainless steel louvred cladding
Noted for its fruit and vegetable market, first recorded near the church of St Mary Spittal in the 13th century and until 1991 in the Victorian Market Halls, Spitalfields is now reinventing itself.
The Steward Building is an Allford Hall Monaghan Morris designed office scheme that provides a new landmark in the regeneration of the area.
Situated between two very different streetscapes, the new building acts as a transition between Bishops Square and the historically and architecturally interesting Artillery Passage Conservation Area, and provides a mix of 49,300 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation on the upper floors and smaller-scale retail units at street level.
The brief for such a prime office development specified a prestige DeltaBox/SS-90 stainless steel louvre (Grade AISI 316L) as a street front cladding, providing visual screening on two elevations.
The design, which was developed by Lang+Fulton, featured recessed supports for the panels and incorporated a sliding door with concealed gate hardware to achieve a seamless aesthetic.
