Bilco UK Ltd has become a member of the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA). The company, which also manufactures and supplies CE-marked natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEVs), floor doors, fixed vertical and retractable ladders, is also to assist in the drafting of guidance on the installation of roof access hatches and NSHEVs for single ply roofs.
James Fisher, General Manager for Bilco, says it is a logical move for Bilco to join SPRA. He said, “As manufacturers of high quality products which are essential in the construction of many single ply roofs, it seemed a natural choice for us to become members of SPRA. We make a great deal of information, from BIM models to CAD drawings and installation guides, available for download from our website, and this fits in well with the SPRA ethos of sharing knowledge and best practice for the industry. We are pleased to be sharing our expertise in compiling a new design guide as careful installation of our products is essential for a long lasting and robust result.”
He added, “One of SPRA’s criteria for joining its ranks is to have compliant products, and that’s also a vital part of our values as a manufacturer. All our products comply with their relevant standards, and we were among the first to CE-mark our NSHEV products following rigorous testing and considerable investment in our product. We emphasise the safe use of our roof hatches once installed, which is important in preserving the longevity of the roof structure as well as safeguarding the welfare of the user when making egress through one of our products.”
SPRA was founded over 25 years ago to promote best practice and professionalism in the polymeric waterproof roof industry and embraces in its membership the entire supply chain, including manufacturers, distributors, specialist contractors and individual installers. All SPRA members are independently audited annually against rigorous quality criteria from manufacture to project completion.
