Challenge

Silverburn is a new 100,000m2 shopping centre, anchored by Tesco, Next, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams located in the Pollock area of Glasgow.

The centre has convenient motorway access and provides parking for 4,500 vehicles.

Solution

Lang+Fulton worked with BDP to develop a design of ground-level security screens, as well as decorative grating panels to the upper levels of the covered parking.

The panels were manufactued from a Stereo-3 grating with a 63x132mm aperture.

Outcome

The £350m development was designed by BDP and received a BCSC Gold Award. BCSC Gold Awards recognise standards of excellence within the retail property industry, and the developers’ appropriate response to the complex challenges presented by today’s urban agenda.

The citation reads, “The sharp design has a regenerative effect on the surrounding area”.
