Waterproofing and tanking membranes are used for protecting basements, foundations, floors, walls and balconies from water and damp ingress. Read More

Tanking membranes are most often used in cellars, basements or below-ground structures where a high level of water-proofing is required.

Fully sealed and impermeable membranes prevent all moisture from coming in or out. They are often used where cold or damp conditions exist.

Breathable / ventilated membranes allow a degree of drainage, to accommodate internal moisture levels. Some systems may be specifically suited to walls or floors.

Different types of membrane construction are available, including liquid-applied and mechanically fixed rolls or sheets.

Specification of the waterproofing or tanking system will depend on the type of building, level of groundwater, quality of drainage, type of soil and ground contamination.

Where there is standing water in a basement, a sump pump will be used for drainage prior to installation of the waterproofing membrane.
