Types
Planter bricks
Available in Ketley's four Staffordshire colours, blue, brown brindle, red and brown antique, Ketley planter bricks are machine-made from extruded clay through standard dies, making them extremely economical to manufacture. Designed to fit onto the tops of walls, they can be made in a variety of profiles including cants, bullnose or double bullnose depending on the design requirements. They have a small weep hole to allow for drainage and are an attractive and practical solution for urban gardens.
Moss tiles
Ketley collaborated with young designer Poppy Pippin to create moss tiles which promote the growth of moss in eye-catching biophilic designs. The ridged surface of the tiles allows the moss to attach itself and create a 'green wall'. Similar to brick slips, these tiles can be used to clad urban walls and contribute to a sustainable landscaping solution.
Swift boxes
Originally designed in 2017 in collaboration with Witherford Watson Mann for the new Tower at Walthamstow Wetlands to encourage the nesting of urban swifts, these boxes have sloping entrances and a small hole in the front to keep the nesting areas well drained. With 3 bricks in one Swift box set, they fit perfectly into brickwork coursing.
Bee bricks
Ketley's bee bricks are available in all 3 Ketley brick colours and can be used in place of a standard brick to provide a nesting place for solitary, non-swarming bees.
