Project Overview
The University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLAN) Clinical Skills Facility at Victoria Mill Building in Burnley faced significant noise challenges that impacted the learning environment. TVS Group was approached by Parkinson Builders Ltd, on recommendation from Red Acoustics, to provide an effective noise reduction solution.
Challenge and Solution
The facility’s limited free wall space posed a unique challenge for installing traditional acoustic panels. To overcome this, TVS Group devised an innovative solution using a combination of wall-mounted and suspended acoustic elements. This included 51 TVS ABSorb Panels, each measuring 1000 x 1000mm, wrapped in Camira Cara Vit colored fabric, and 56 suspended TVS ABSorb Cubes, each 400 x 400mm, wrapped in Cara Merrick colored fabric. This strategic mix not only maximized the use of available space but also significantly enhanced the acoustic performance of the facility.
Execution and Impact
The installation was completed with a focus on minimizing disruption to the facility’s operations. The panels were mounted on fixing plates, while the cubes were suspended using wire fixing kits, facilitating both aesthetic appeal and functional efficacy. The choice of materials and installation techniques ensured a quick turnaround and cost-effective solution.
Client Feedback
The client was extremely pleased with the outcome, noting a substantial improvement in noise levels within the facility. The integration of the panels and cubes with the existing floor plan was also highlighted, underscoring the aesthetic and functional benefits of the solution.
