Overview

Westgate Global's Flexiwall partitioning and Fastflex industrial doors have provided Loop Technology, a leading provider of industrial automation technology and robotics, with a cost-effective method of containing composite fibres in its robotics enclosure, preventing them from entering the rest of the factory.

Challenge

Loop Technology has embarked on an ambitious project as part of the ASCEND consortium. With a focus on developing composite material and process technologies for energy-efficient aircraft and future mobility, it recognised the need for a controlled environment to support its Advanced Automated Preforming Technology (AdAPT) composite preforming demonstration cell.

Solution

To address the challenge of containing composite fibres and preventing them from entering the rest of the factory, Loop Technology turned to Westgate Global’s innovative Flexiwall solution. The installation had to be compatible with the existing infrastructure’s high ceilings, and be time- and cost-efficient.

Flexiwall’s lightweight panel design allowed for quick and clean installation, ensuring minimal disruption. The panels were assembled on-site using the systems unique v-overlap connection method, suspended from the building's existing structure, tensioned and fixed, creating a secure partition that effectively contained the designated area while maintaining flexibility for future modifications. This adaptability means the partition can be reconfigured, removed or relocated in the future if Loop Technology’s needs evolve.

Outcome

The result is a two-sided 10.9 x 19.5m Flexiwall, featuring five vision panels, two Fastflex doors, and a personnel door. The Flexiwall solution provided Loop Technology with a cost-effective method of containing the area, particularly considering the high ceiling height of their facility.
