The construction sector and built environment is estimated to use up to 50% of global energy and water resources, and contribute to 23% of air pollution, 50% of the climate change gases and ozone depletion, 40% of drinking water pollution, and 50% of landfill waste.
With such a high impact on the environment, and acceptance on a wider scale that action needs to be taken to protect our planet, sustainability is an extremely hot topic in construction, and contractors are looking to reduce their waste.
At Westgate Global, we take this seriously and aim to support our customers’ sustainability goals as well as our own. Our Hoardfence external site hoarding panels are made from 85% recycled materials (15% virgin PVC is used to ensure a clean white finish, meaning a quicker set up with no painting and decorating costs) and are 100% recyclable at end of life. The modular system is reusable and relocatable through project stages or over multiple projects. We also offer low carbon concrete ballast block options to support carbon reduction targets.
The system is temporary works compliant (TWf:2012) and can assist with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, BREEAM ratings, smart construction initiatives and zero waste targets.
We also activated our Hoardfast sustainability promise from the recycling of our internal hoarding panels in 2019 and shortly after our ‘Westgate Giving’ initiative as part of our wider CSR efforts, which supports various charities and employee volunteering or fundraising.
