Earlier this year, Newton was contacted by Lauren Hunt, from Formation Architects about a fantastic opportunity to sponsor her rowing team as they compete in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge. Newton has worked with Lauren before on several waterproofing projects. We were very pleased to be invited to sponsor her team 'In Deep Ship'.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge consist's of a 3000-mile row across the Atlantic Ocean. The row starts in San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, to Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbour in Antigua & Barbuda. Over 30 teams are taking part, and each team has chosen charities to fundraise for. In Deep Ship aim to raise £60,000 before the race begins in December for their chosen charities; Anthony Nolan, Crisis UK and Covenant House Vancouver. Collectively, the participants of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge have already raised over €11m for charities worldwide since the challenge began in 2013.
As a 'Bronze' sponsor of In Deep Ship, our logo has been printed onto the side of the boat, alongside the other team sponsors, including one of our partners, A. Proctor Group. The team now have spent their previous weekend on the water in Cardiff Bay, Penarth Marina, as the boat has been shipped to the start line in La Gomera, in preparation for the 12th December 2021, when the race starts.
