Context

Deptford Fire Station is a Grade II listed building in Lewisham that was originally constructed in 1903. It has been designated as having special architectural interest as a characterful and distinctive station from a significant period in the fire station architecture with the principal façade being carefully composed in a Queen Anne style.

Bolton Gate supplied the folding appliance bay doors in the 1960s and, although still functional after 50 years, they were in need of replacement due to frequent usage. Since the building is listed, every effort was required to replace the doors on a like-for-like basis.

Work undertaken

Having conducted a detailed survey, Bolton Gate was engaged to supply new folding shutters to the same design which were installed and handed over in 2018.

This is just one of several fire station contracts that the company has undertaken in London.
