Context

Mustard Tree is one of Greater Manchester’s most loved and respected charities for the homeless and disadvantaged. It operates from a large warehouse in the Ancoats district of the city. This building had been in a dilapidated state and totally unfit for purpose before £1.65 million was raised to refurbish it and make it a great resource for delivering their own services and providing space for other organisations to use.

OMI Architects were appointed to design the upgrade which included replacing the external folding doors. The original doors were manufactured by Bolton Gate Company and despite being over 60 years old, were still operable and providing security to the perimeter of the building.

Work undertaken

OMI specified new doors of the same type and Bolton Gate was chosen to supply and install three bespoke Eurofold folding shutter doors to the main entrance. These were in keeping with the building’s industrial past and powder-coated yellow.
