Challenge

The Angel Lane bridge was constructed for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians in East London as part of the transport network for the Olympic Park. It created a new link in Stratford town centre.

The Olympic Delivery Authority instigated a design competition for students at London’s Royal College of Art for a mural to be painted along one side of the bridge.

The winning design was an intricate pattern of white clouds against a blue sky, created by a laser-cut stencil system of almost 30,000 sequenced squares to give a pixilated visual impression of the design.
