Challenge

661 London Road was designed by award-winning architects Munkenbeck & Marshall. The apartments are arranged over two buildings connected by glass links to three communal roof terraces with views across London.

A balustrade was required to suit the stylish contemporary landscaping, designed by Philip Cave Associates with a flowing scheme of heathland planting, cobbles and timber decking.

Solution

Lang+Fulton supplied 250 linear metres of Italia-80 steel louvred panels for the balustrading around the roof-top gardens to provide screening, shelter and security. The 1200x1642mm panels were framed with 50x50x3mm angles for bolting to the structural framework.

Ventilation plant and service areas were enclosed and 7 single-leaf gates provide maintenance access. The panels were hot-dip galvanized and finished with a polyester powder coat in RAL7016.

Outcome

The balustrade created a secure environment with the added benefit of providing shelter and privacy.
