Crown Paints

With headquarters in Darwen, Crown is a major independent paint manufacturer in the UK.

Its origins go back to the late 1850s when it made wallpaper and traded as WalPaMur. In 1987, as Crown Berger, it was taken over by Williams Holdings and then again in 1990 by Akzo Nobel. It was sold in a management buyout in 2008 after Akzo Nobel's takeover of ICI. In June 2011 Crown Paints was acquired by Danish paint manufacturer Hempel A/S.

Crown Paints retail brands Crown, Sadolin, Sandtex and Berger, plus the trade brands, Crown Trade, Sandtex Trade, Sadolin & Macpherson have been specified for some of the UK's most prestigious buildings.
