Light pipes

(12)

Light pipes, or sun pipes, help to reduce energy costs by transporting natural daylight into buildings, minimising the demand on electrical lighting. They are suitable for commercial and residential applications, and can be fitted to new and existing buildings, on flat or pitched roofs. Read More

As an alternative to artificial lighting, light pipes can also improve general wellbeing and combat symptoms of sicknesses such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). This can often lead to increased productivity and reduced absenteeism in the workplace.

Natural daylight is transported from an external glazed roof light through a reflective tube, where the light is then evenly distributed into the room below via a diffuser. The reflective tube extends throughout the building using adjustable bends, while the mirrored finish increases the intensity of the light.

Light pipes can also incorporate natural ventilation systems to provide a continuous supply of fresh air for a complete energy-efficient system. Natural ventilation systems can also be specified separately.
