Diamond retro-style lightweight, fibre cement roof slates have a flat square edge and are supplied pre-holed. They are suitable for use in a range of projects but are ideal for retrofit or re-roofing projects on 20th century buildings in rural areas that features original red diamond slates.
They are manufactured using Portland cement and a non-asbestos formulation of blended synthetic and cellulose fibres.
Diamond slates are pigmented during production and fully compressed. A choice of blue/black, russet and brown colours is offered.
They can be used with all common building materials excluding those resistant to alkali attack. If the flashing or guttering of the building is made using materials such as aluminium and they are subject to run-off water from the slates then they should be protected and maintained using a bituminous paint.
Diamond slates are resistant to freeze thaw action, thermal expansion, chemical attack vermin and rot. The acrylic coating reduces the potential growth of moss and lichen.
