Siberian Larch cladding
Ecochoice sourced FSC-certified Siberian larch cladding for installation at the Exeter Flood Defence scheme, which is managed by the Environment Agency with the aim of protecting over 3000 homes and businesses in Exeter.
Appointed contractor BAM Nuttall was in charge of phase 2 of the project, which involved driving steel sheet piling along the banks of the river, making them higher and more difficult to breach.
Steel sheet piling has an industrial feel and is generally not very aesthetically-pleasing so it was decided to clad it with timber to give the project a more pleasant, natural feel.
Specialist local contractor, Luxton Engineering, was selected to carry out the hard carpentry work.
Ecochoice sourced unsorted (higher grade) and kiln-dried (more stable) Siberian Larch cladding directly from source forests, giving the customer (and tax payer) a high-quality product, with strict provenance and sustainability certification at a fraction of the cost compared with sourcing it from UK-based stockists.
