Context

The £200m New Waverly development of Edinburgh’s historic old town includes a new Premier Inn. The hotel is situated within the Old Town’s UNESCO World Heritage site and overlooks the historic Royal Mile –  it was therefore essential that the exterior facade of the new building should integrate seamlessly with the existing architecture.

Product supplied

The design of the building takes a traditional sandstone material, combinining it with glass and aluminum for a contemporary finish.

Stanton Moor sandstone colouration has a buff base with brown and gold variation, matching closely with the materials used in the historic city.

Stone description

Carboniferous buff sandstone from Stanton Moor quarry with technical properties ideal for rainscreen cladding, ashlar and masonry products.
