Elefant Gratings' grilles were used to create bespoke infill panels for a cantilevered balustrade at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, West Midlands.
Based in the cultural quarter in Leicester city centre, the theatre was formerly known as Leicester Performing Arts Centre.
The grilles were originally supplied in a self-colour format in order that the architectural metalworkers who installed the grilles could weld the fixing strips to the front edge.
The grilles were designed to withstand the vertical imposed load required for public areas, based on a continuous support structure.
The grilles, while fitting all safety and load requirements, lend a cutting-edge and semi-industrial aesthetic to the theatre.
