Challenge

Ronacrete provided waterproofing, screeds and renders to a towering office block in Makati City, the Far East, whilst complying with the LEED criteria (Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design).

The Zuellig Building combines a commitment to environmental responsibility with state-of-the-art infrastructure and superb finishes, to offer tenants a workplace of premium quality.

The building gains its identity from the ceramic frit-pattern of the glass curtain wall. Inspired by bamboo and flowing water, the distinctive all-glass facade references vernacular and organic motifs, and serves to supplement the shading capabilities of the building envelope.

The large double-paned glass panels with a low emissivity (low-E) coating minimise solar heat gain and energy loss, while maximising the penetration of light.

The building stands on an 8,285m2 site, which is easily accessible from all directions and is pedestrian-friendly.

Solution

Ronacrete provided independent certification to show that all Ronacrete products supplied to the project met the requirement for low VOC content.

Ronacrete products were used for waterproofing, screeding and rendering in the Zuellig Building's basements, washrooms, roof areas, roof level planters, lift lobbies, machine rooms, lift shafts and water tanks.

Outcome

The completion of the project was achieved in accordance with the regulations. Ronacrete takes pride in being involved in a project noted for its design excellence as well as being of benefit to sustainability.

The building has won the MIPIM Asia Award 2012 for Best Office & Business Development, as well as the Father Neri Satur Award for Environmental Heroism in recognition of the project’s contribution towards “reducing carbon footprints through green building and energy conservation in the business sector.”
